We meant she bares all emotionally, guys!
Well, she bares a little flesh, too. Fringe star Anna Torv, who plays Olivia Dunham, recently did an interview for the magazine Esquire. As some of you know, Esquire also does rather racy pictorials of their interview subjects, and Torv was no exception. Alongside her interview, several pictures were posted featuring Torv wearing very little. The male demographic of Fringe fans will probably be excited to see the photoshoot, but fans of all kind will be interested to read the interview that came with it.
“If someone could see what I did in my twenties, I’d be moooooooortified [sic]. But you’re supposed to go and try all that stuff, aren’t you?” Torv said when asked about her past.
But speaking of her present, Torv is set to appear in the new HBO miniseries The Pacific, in an as-yet unknown, but still very likely to be memorable, role. How memorable?
“That sex scene in The Pacific? You don’t get that on Fringe, do you? I don’t think anyone finds them easy. It’s not that I’m embarrassed about my boobs. It’s just that some part of you really doesn’t want that out there. At the same time, you want to get good at it. In the moment, what you’re really thinking is, ‘S—, I need a mint.’”
Finally, Torv dishes on what she thinks the future of her career will hold. “I don’t feel like I’ve hit my stride. So I wonder what the moment will be when I get to be who I want to be.”
If you thought the neat apple-shaped worn spot in Walter’s chair was cool, you’re going to love this. The Jacksonville daycare featured in “Jacksonville” had an even better little shot which included not one, not two, but five glyphs. Of course, they weren’t the light blue ones that we’ve seen before every commercial break, but it was obvious what they were meant to represent, and they made it look pretty cool. Now I’m just interested to see their meaning within the meaning of the show. I mean, we know that there were frogs in John Scott’s hidden lair, that Robert Bischoff used a seahorse-shaped molecule to sign his creations, and that Astrid loves butterflies. However, the other glyphs remain completely confusing. What do you think they mean?
In the meantime, here’s the picture of the daycare. If you’ll look in the bottom left corner, you’ll see the hand, butterfly, flower, seahorse, and frog. They don’t have the imperfections of their glyphic counterparts though — the handprint has only five fingers. It’s a nice little easter egg from the producers. Any significance? If there is, I can’t think of any. Not until we know a little bit about what these glyphs actually mean.
Well, we asked for it, and we got it. A few big reveals — or not — about the alternate universe and Olivia’s part in it. Big episode of ‘Fringe‘, with lots of things coming together. This is the winter finale, and the next episode airs April 1, 2010.

First, how cute was the little girl who played Olive, Olivia’s childhood self. According to the ‘Fringe’ Wiki, that’s Ada Breker. What a cool scene when Olivia saw her in the forest and tried to comfort her. And then confronted Walter about the abuse he inflicted on children during his experiments. As we’ve said in previous reviews — and he said himself tonight — he was a very different person back then. He must have been very different, because it’s hard to imagine the present day Walter doing such a thing. He’s such a kind soul now.
Let’s talk about the guy who ended up with his alternate universe body embedded in his present day body. I’m with Astrid — that kind of thing would make me queasy. And Walter understood that and sent her off to look in his box.
As usual, brilliant of Walter to ask the guy which buildings were attacked on Sept. 11. When I got the press kit for season two, there was a faux newspaper with a story about the White House’s renovations after the attack. I believe that was in one of the episodes along the way, too; the one where Olivia visits William Bell in the alternate universe. So that whole bit of info came back around full circle here.
I guess it’s conceivable that the Jacksonville facility would still be intact, if William Bell bought it after founding Massive Dynamic, and then shut it down. But the fact that Olivia doesn’t remember a single thing is interesting, and also doesn’t feel fear anymore and was thus unable to access her alternate-universe-seeing powers.
I just knew there was something brewing between Peter and Olivia, and was practically gleeful when he almost kissed her, but, oh snap, they were interrupted by her revelation. What do you think will happen now that Olivia knows Peter is from the other universe? Both she and Peter had their lives severely altered by Walter’s machinations, and I can see them possibly turning against him en masse.

The Observer popped up once again in “Jacksonville,” this time crossing in front of a firetruck as Olivia and the team arrive at the scene early on in the episode. Don’t you think it’s about time they noticed the Observer was present during every case they solve? I’m ready for Olivia or someone to finally see him out of the corner of their eye and stop and speak to him. You know, ask him exactly what’s going on.
It’s been common knowledge since “The Bishop Revival” aired that the Observer appeared in the episode outside the diner right before Alfred Hoffman set off selective toxin #2, which killed everyone with brown eyes. But don’t worry, Observer-lovers. The Observer’s eyes are green, and he was never in any danger at all.
And has anyone else noted that whenever we see the Observer within the episode, he’s hardly ever actually observing? He’s simply walking past. Could his presence actually be the catalyst for these events, instead of vice-versa? (After all, the general in “Fracture,” seemed to be under the impression that the Observers were going to kill us all).
The eagle-eyed folks over at Fringepedia managed to capture a screenshot from “The Bishop Revival” that honestly made me doubt my powers of observation. The folks who make Fringe often throw in easter eggs to their episodes; that’s no secret. But this easter egg is so obviously placed that it makes me wonder how I could have missed it. So, without any further ado, I present to you: the apple in the chair!
In case you didn’t know, Fringe star Joshua Jackson (Peter Bishop) is dating Diane Kruger. Don’t know Diane Kruger? She’s a fairly A-list actress who has appeared in films such as Troy, National Treasure, and, most recently, Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. The German-born actress isn’t ending her credits there, though. She’s also going to be adding a guest appearance on Fringe to her filmography.
Her relationship with Jackson probably secured her the role, but she won’t be around long on the show. She looks like she’ll instead be one of the victims of some super-bubonic-plague-like affliction that causes her arm and next to develop boil-like, scaly cysts. It also looks like the affliction will be hitting Kruger’s character while she’s going for a drive (pictured right). It’s not pretty, but it’s totally Fringe-y.
